MailtronX RBL

Real-time blocklists are the cheapest spam control there is: a DNS query answers before a message is even accepted. MailtronX runs them on the appliance today and will run a shared service for all appliances next.

On the appliance today

Your own zones

The appliance serves its own blocklist zone, built from the Banned IP and Global Blacklist lists, plus hourly-refreshed mirrors of public feeds (abuse.ch Feodo, PSBL, Emerging Threats compromised hosts, blocklist.de, CINS Army and the Tor exit list); Spamhaus DROP is applied in the firewall. These zones are weighted alongside the public DNSBLs before a message is accepted.

Clean lookups

Public list lookups are resolved by the appliance itself, separate from the system resolver, to avoid restrictions on shared or open resolvers. List operators may still restrict access by network, volume or subscription; their usage policies apply.

Numbers you can trust

Hits and blocks per zone are recorded every ten minutes as time series, and the dashboard shows RBL listings, DNSBL blocks and blacklist matches across 1 hour to 1 year.

Am I listed?

The Blacklist Check page asks the curated RBL set whether the appliance's own address is listed, so a reputation problem is visible before your users notice.

rbl.mailtronx.com roadmap

The central MailtronX RBL service is planned, not yet live. What it will provide:

ServiceWhat it does
Public DNSBLThe zone rbl.mailtronx.com, queryable by anyone, fed by MailtronX appliances world-wide (spam traps, verified rejects) and by curated sources.
Lookup and delistingA page to check whether an address or domain is listed, since when and why, with a rate-limited delisting request that needs no account.
Appliance synchronisationAuthenticated appliances pull zone data and shared lists (global blacklist and whitelist, banned lists, redirector hosts, spam-trap patterns) and push events back, so every appliance in a fleet benefits from what any of them sees.
Signed dataEverything an appliance pulls is signed, so an appliance verifies the origin of the data before using it.
